Curator of “MEXICO◎DORADO,” a selection of Mexico’s finest spirits.
Born in Yokohama, Japan, Don Pancho first traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, in 1976.
It was there that he encountered mezcal, tequila, and the extraordinary diversity of Mexican food culture—an experience that would profoundly shape the course of his life.
In 1979, he returned to Guadalajara. Since then, he has continued to travel between Japan and Mexico, building a remarkable network of relationships over the course of five decades.
Drawing on this deep connection to Mexico, its people, traditions, culture, and land, he has devoted himself to discovering and selecting exceptional mezcals that embody the very soul of Mexico, while playing a pioneering role in introducing and promoting mezcal in Japan.
A Global Mezcal Ambassador for COMERCAM (formerly CRM), Don Pancho is one of only six ambassadors worldwide—and the only one in Asia.
